Where people get it wrong is when they think that poetry was meant to be clean an structured. Poetry is not, it is a collection of the broken dreams, private thoughts, and little trinkets lost within the cracks that form in forgotten sidewalks.
Short stories, prose, and vignettes are often more emotional and powerful. They are what is left when all that make writing beautiful gets stripped away and only the raw heart remains.
A novel is the unrelenting desire to live within a nightmare someone else has dreamed and you, and you alone, are privileged to drink of.
The greatest gifts one can give a child are the ability to read, and the curiosity to ruthlessly peruse the words that got lost in the pages of dusty books and forgotten letters.
